Scaled Down

Groups of beehives, sometimes multi-coloured and with distressed or fading paint, often tucked away in the corners of fields are a familiar sight for most of us. This model was created for a bee-keeping couple living and working in Bannockburn near Cromwell, where they produce high class honey sourced from as many as 4000 beehives located in Central Otago and the West Coast of the South Island.

The model is made from balsa and basswood and was made for Scaled Down by Stephen Gardiner.
