Affectionately known as 'Emily', this 1934 Austin 10/4 occupied a special place in the family for decades, providing daily transport to work and near trouble free motoring to all parts of the south island. (well almost...)
Robust and reliable, the Austin 10 was something of a breakthrough for the company in its day and with its engine of 1,125 cc and four-speed gearbox, it performed creditably and lasted well, epitomising the company motto: 'You buy a car, but you invest in an Austin'.
This model is one of a pair, both boxed and made for its former owners. Each has a wooden frame covered with aluminium from drink cans, cut, shaped and glued into place.
