Scaled Down

This simple wooden bungalow with strong Colonial American influences was built by Nan and Noel Beckett, in 1949. It was the first house in the valley, then situated alongside a farm in what is now an attractive street in the Auckland suburb of Kohimarama. The Becketts lived there very happily for over 60 years, and since they passed away the house has been kept in the family and cherished by each generation who occupied it.

In March 2014, the house was removed from the section to make way for a contemporary building for the growing family to enjoy into the years ahead, but the happy memories of ‘44’ will continue...aided of course, by the model!
