37 Cowlishaw Street was a delightful bungalow of the 1930s in that part of Avonside which suffered major land damage during the recent series of earthquakes to hit Christchurch. Land there is designated no longer able to be built on and as a result of this its owners have relocated elsewhere leaving behind memories of their first home.
The house itself has a distinctive arch over the front door which sets it apart and provides visitors with a welcoming entrance. Another notable feature is the way that the garage and house combine attractively with each other and with the landscaping of the section; with two elegant pergolas attached to the garage that provide areas for outdoor living (and a home for the dog!)
